NYFA Digital Flora Atlas The revised New York Flora Atlas is now ready.  See atlas.nyflora.org to view this atlas.

MS Word Botanical Dictionaries The two spellcheckers provided here were created by Troy Weldy and originally based Mitchell and Tucker's CD version of the Checklist of Plants of New York State. Over time, new names were added. The species spellchecker list most if not all of the family, genus, and epithets for species found within New York State. The author checklist provides the names and/or abbreviations to most of the authorities for New York Plants. These spellcheckers are meant to be used with any version of MS Word. To use these spellcheckers, download the files and place them in the same folder where your custom dictionary (normally called custom.dic) is located. Once these spellcheckers are loaded into the proper folder, open MS Word and go to Tools--Options--Spelling and Grammar. Under spelling, add the new dictionaries

Label Making Program The NY Natural Heritage Program has recently completed an herbarium label making program (known as Theo) based on MS Access. The user may select various base plant checklists including various regional checklists downloaded from the USDA Plants Database, Mitchell's NY Flora checklist, and a Massachusetts Checklist from Sorrie and Somers.  Even though this program was created in MS Access, the end user does not need to have MS Access on their computer to use Theo.  For more information, visit Theo's home page.
